Our in-wall steps are made of DR Acrylic with a fiberglass backing.   There are several advantages to this type of construction as opposed to Polymer steps which are made of Centrex laminated to an ABS backing.   Our stair has a longer life than other surfaces and is more resistant to U.V. rays.   If it is chipped it is easier to repair, the color match on a repair is better than with other coatings, and the step is not subject to cracking.  As well, our step has a smooth, orange peel finish, unlike the rougher surface of the Polymer step.  We consider this to be our top-of-the-line step.
